Usage for each AI account, in the menu bar
With two or three Claude Code or Codex accounts, it's hard to tell which one is close to its limit. Parallex's menu bar shows, for each account on your Mac, how much it used today and in the 5-hour window open now, with when that window resets. It's an estimate from the logs Claude Code and Codex already keep on your Mac. It shows; it never switches accounts. Part of Parallex Pro: $9.99 once, for up to 5 Macs. The 14-day free trial includes it, on every Mac, with no card.

What it shows
- Every account Parallex knows of: yours (your
~/.claudeand~/.codex, once you've used them), each copy or instance with a Claude Code config or Codex home of its own, and each workspace whose identity keeps its own. - Today: the tokens each account used since midnight. Input, output and cache writes are counted; cache reads aren't.
- The 5-hour window: the tokens used in the window open now, and when it resets. For Codex, when its own log notes how much of its 5-hour limit is used, Parallex shows that share instead.
It's in the menu bar panel, under AI usage, and refreshes once a minute while the panel is open. Show AI usage in Settings hides it.
Where the numbers come from
Only files already on your Mac: Claude Code's transcripts (projects/ in each config folder) and Codex's session logs (sessions/ in each Codex home). Parallex reads the counts in them, a little at a time, keeping the last 30 hours. It makes no network request for this, and reads no cookies, passwords or sign-in tokens.
That makes it an estimate. Chats in the desktop apps aren't in those logs, so they aren't counted, and neither is use from another computer. Parallex works the window out from the first message after the last one closed, as the plans describe it, so the plan's own count can differ. For the plan's own numbers, check in Claude Code or Codex themselves.
What it doesn't do
It never switches accounts, and doesn't suggest moving to another account to get around a plan's limits. It's there so you know where you stand on each account you're entitled to use.
Questions
Does it read my Claude or OpenAI sign-in?
No. It reads token counts from the log files Claude Code and Codex write on your Mac. It never touches their sign-ins and never goes online for this.
Why aren't my chats in the Claude app counted?
Chats in the desktop apps aren't in the logs Parallex reads, so they aren't counted. What's counted is Claude Code and Codex: they write the logs.
Which accounts show up?
Yours, and every copy, instance or workspace Parallex gave a Claude Code config or Codex home of its own: a second Claude made with the Claude template, a workspace that keeps .claude its own, an agent.
