One Claude setup, every Claude account
A second Claude Code account starts with an empty config folder: none of your CLAUDE.md, skills, agents or plugins. Parallex can share them. Turn on Share my Claude setup for a second Claude, or for a workspace, and its config folder links to yours for the files that are about how you work, while the files that say who it is stay its own. The same goes for Codex: your AGENTS.md, prompts and skills. Part of Parallex Pro: $9.99 once, for up to 5 Macs. The 14-day free trial includes it, on every Mac, with no card.

What's shared, and what isn't
| Shared from yours | Each account's own | |
|---|---|---|
| Claude Code | CLAUDE.md, rules, skills, agents, commands, output-styles and installed plugins (plugins/cache, plugins/marketplaces and their two lists) | Its sign-in, .claude.json (with its MCP servers), settings.json, settings.local.json, history, projects and sessions, and plugins/data |
| Codex | AGENTS.md, prompts and skills | Its sign-in (auth.json), config.toml, sessions and history |
So a work account and a personal one follow the same instructions and have the same skills and slash commands, but each signs in to its own plan, keeps its own history, and talks to its own MCP servers and connectors. Which plugins are turned on is a setting, in each account's settings.json, so turn them on in each account.
Turn it on
- A second Claude app: make it with New Instance › Claude (the template gives it a Claude Code config of its own), then turn on Share my Claude setup on its page. In Terminal:
parallex create --template claude --name "Claude Work" --share-setup, orparallex edit "Claude Work" --share-setupfor one you have. - A workspace, for Claude Code in Terminal: give its identity its own Claude Code and Codex, then share your setup into them:
parallex workspace persona Acme --item .claude --item .codex --share-setup on. Shells started as that workspace, and folders bound to it, use them. - An agent:
parallex agent new reviewer --share-setupgives an agent workspace your setup too.
How it works
Each shared item in the account's config folder is a link to yours. If the account already had its own version of an item, it's kept beside the link, not deleted, and comes back when you turn sharing off. A link whose target is gone is removed, nothing is ever moved through a link into your folder, and for a copy of the Claude app, Guard keeps the rest of your ~/.claude (your history, settings and sign-in) out of reach. Parallex brings a copy's links up to date each time it opens.
Because they're links, the files are yours: a skill edited or a plugin installed from any account changes it for all of them. That's the point, but it's worth knowing before you share your setup with an agent.
Without Parallex
You can make the same links by hand, for one account: ln -s ~/.claude/CLAUDE.md ~/.claude-work/CLAUDE.md, and the same for skills, agents and commands. That works well for a folder or two. Parallex does it for every copy, workspace and agent, keeps each account's own versions safe, and undoes it cleanly.
Questions
Do my MCP servers carry over to the other account?
No. Claude Code keeps MCP servers in each account's .claude.json, which stays the account's own, so each account has its own servers and connectors. For a second Claude app, its page also has Share MCP servers, which brings the servers set up in your other Claude.
Can the two accounts sign each other out?
No. Sign-ins aren't shared. Claude Code keeps each config folder's sign-in in its own keychain item, so each account stays signed in.
Is it in the free version?
Making a second Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or Cursor is in every Parallex. Sharing your setup across them is part of Parallex Pro, and the 14-day free trial includes it.
