Two Microsoft Teams accounts on one Mac
Keep a client's or a second organisation's Teams open beside your own: Teams on the web as an app of its own, with its own sign-in, notifications and Dock badge. Parallex is free and open source.
How
- Install Parallex (below). Your Microsoft Teams isn't changed.
- Choose New Instance and pick Microsoft Teams. Name it for what it's for, like “Microsoft Teams Work”, and give it a color.
- Open it and sign in with the other account. Both run at once, each in its own windows, each with its own Dock icon.
What you get with Microsoft Teams
- A website instance of Teams (teams.microsoft.com) in its own window, with its own Dock icon, notifications and unread badge.
- Its own sign-in: it keeps its own cookies and data, so it stays signed in to the other account.
- Signing in stays in the app: Microsoft's sign-in pages open inside it, not in your browser.
- Teams meeting links (
msteams:) from it go to the Teams app, as you'd expect.
Good to know
- This is Teams on the web, which most work in Teams works with; for something only the Teams app does, use the app itself for one of the accounts.
Questions
Why the web version and not a copy of the app?
Teams on the web runs as an app of its own here, with its own sign-in, and needs nothing copied.
